My reverence for photography began with a childhood love for family albums. I understood early on that documenting the seasons of this precious life is an act of preservation. Born and raised in the Midwest, my creative eye has been deeply shaped by the genuine warmth of the people, the vibrant sunsets, and the elegance of simple living. These lovely communities are at the very heart of why I fell in love with storytelling through my lens.
THIS IS MY STORY…
From a very young age, creativity came naturally to me. My childhood days were filled with baking from scratch and hands-on crafting — I was even the child who asked for baking supplies for Christmas! But among all those creative outlets, my absolute favorite pastime was flipping through old, worn photo albums. Holding those printed memories of my own childhood, alongside portraits of generations I never had the luxury to meet, instilled in me a deep reverence for printed photographs.
That fascination naturally evolved into a desire to create. What began as playing with my dad’s vintage film camera and packing a tiny point-and-shoot on family vacations quickly became more. In high school, I invested in my first DSLR from eBay (don’t worry, I have since upgraded!) and began documenting absolutely everything in sight.
Tiera Joy Photography officially blossomed during my college years, transforming a lifelong passion into a dream business. Over the past several years, I’ve had the immense honor of documenting hundreds of sessions for the absolute sweetest people. I walk away from every single shoot with a heart full of gratitude, and my ultimate hope is that you leave our time together feeling that exact same joy.
